In accordance with Rule 33 of the Central Midwives Board,
the following reasons for the discontinuance of breastfeeding
were received: —
Illness of Mother 15
Insufficient Milk 54
Other Causes 15
Total 84
Inspection of Midwives.
Dr. Jenkin Lloyd, the Inspector of Midwives, iiiteiviewed 11
midwives at the Town Hall. Fourteen visits were paid by her to
the homes of midwives.
Doctors' Accounts under Section 14 (1) of the Midwives Act, 1918.
248 accounts were received from doctors for services rendered
under the provisions of this Section. This compares with 329 in
1943, 373 in 1942, 245 in 1941, 321 in 1940, and 424 in 1939. The
total amount of the accounts was £385 10s. Od. £272 5s. 8d. was
ultimately recovered from the patients. In 1943 the amount paid
to doctors was £671 Is. Od. and in 1942 £461 16s. 6d.
