Maternal Mortality.
There were 2 deaths directly due to pregnancy, compared
with 9 in 1942. The maternal mortality rate was 0.53 per 1,000
births, compared with 2.51 in 1942.
The deaths directly due to pregnancy were caused by—
(1) Puerperal sepsis : toxaemia of pregnancy.
(2) Obstetric shock.
Puerperal Pyrexia.
Ninety cases of Puerperal Pyrexia were notified. This is
a rate of 23.8 per 1,000 births (live and still births).
