ventilation of the halls, sanitary conveniences, structure and
cleanliness of the dressing rooms.
A report is submitted to the Licencing Authorities annually.
Notices were issued for the conditions and defects found.
KEEPING OF ANIMALS.
250 inspections were made in connection with the keeping of
animals. There were 64 premises, including institutions, where
pigs were known to be kept in the Borough.
19 notices were served to abate nuisances arising from various
causes in connection with the keeping of pigs, and 3 notices
were served to abate nuisances in connection with the keeping of
other animals.
BYE-LAW NUISANCES FROM DOGS.
In connection with the fouling of footpaths by dogs a
number of warnings have been given.
NOISY ANIMALS BYE-LAW.
Action was taken in 7 instances and the nuisance was abated.
SCHOOLS.
37 inspections of schools and school lavatories were made
during 1943.
The water supply in all cases is from the mains.
INSPECTION OF WATERCOURSES, Etc.
During the year 135 visits were made to ditches, watercourses,
static tanks, etc., in order to see whether there were any
infringements of the several Acts, etc.
PHARMACY AND POISONS ACT, 1933.
The Act consolidates the Poisons and Pharmacy Acts from
the year 1852. The object is to regulate the sale of certain
poisonous substances and the Act contains important provisions.
During the year the number of applications granted for the
entry of names on the List of Persons entitled to sell Poisons
under Part II. of this Act was 5, and application was made and
