Disposal of Condemned Foodstuffs.
(1) Government Slaughterhouse, Pitlake. Condemned foodstuff is dealt with by the Ministry of Food.
2) Government Meat Depot
(3) General Food Inspection.—Articles of food which have
been damaged through enemy air raids are dealt with through the
Salvage Officer, Ministry of Food. Any other condemned foodstuffs
which can be safely converted to any other purpose are
dealt with by firms specialising in this work.
MILK.
Enquiries show that approximately 18,525 gallons of milk
are sold daily in the Borough. Of this amount 96.2 per cent. is
bottled, 3.8 per cent. is loose, which is sold wholesale. These
figures are interesting in view of the fact that at one time the
whole of the milk sold was distributed loose.
