CLEANSING OF VERMINOUS PERSONS, Etc.
During the year 28 adults and 138 children were cleansed for
verminous conditions, and 686 adults and 1,114 children for
scabies.
RATS AND MICE DESTRUCTION.
Wherever rats are found advice is given to the persons concerned,
and in the event of no action being taken by the occupier
notices are served and followed up. The number of visits made
during 1942 was 5,376.
DECONTAMINATION OF CIVILIAN CLOTHING AFFECTED
WITH WAR GASES.
The Chief Sanitary Inspector is the appointed officer.
Arrangements have been made with six large laundries.
47 laundry workers have been trained in decontamination
measures.
DECONTAMINATION OF FOODS AFFECTED WITH WAR
GASES.
The Chief Sanitary Inspector is the appointed officer. He is
assisted by 13 Inspectors and 3 Assistants, who have been trained
in decontamination measures. In addition, there are 49 trained
Food Treatment Volunteers who assist the staff in the event of
enemy gas attacks. Six depots have been established and
equipped for the treatment of gas contaminated foodstuffs.
FOOD SUPPLY.
The supervision and inspection of the food supplies is carried
out by 12 of the District Inspectors, who are qualified in food
inspection.
The Public Slaughterhouses are under the control of the
Superintendent, who also acts under the supervision of the Chief
Sanitary Inspector.
During the year there were 266 animals slaughtered for
human consumption.
