Infant Feeding ami weight en Discharge from Hospital.
In both hospitals normal infants were breast-fed every four hours
omitting the early morning food.
Of 782 infants discharged from Mayday Hospital, 533 were up to or over
birth weight (68 per cent).
Of 484 infants discharged from St. Mary's Maternity Hospital, 329
were up to or over birth weight (68 per cent).
Twins and Triplets

There were 20 cases of Twins and none of Triplets. There was no maternal death.

POST NATAL AND GYNAECOLOGICAL CLINIC.
In 1940 68/o of the "Booked" cases delivered in the Hospitals attended
the Post-Natal Clinic six weeks after their confinements. This is 13$
less than in 1939.

Maternal Mortality (Obstetric Service)
Two deaths occurred of Mothers dealt with by the service; one
a Booked case, the other an emergency case.
The maternal mortality if "Booked" cases, i.e. cases under the
continued supervision of the service, is 0.78 per 1,000 Hospital
deliveries, and 0.45 per 1,000 total deliveries including the Municipal
Midwives booked cases.
