Infant Mortality.
The Infantile Mortality rate was 39 per 1,000 live births
registered.
For the past 5 years the numbers of infant deaths have been
1936, 134) 1937, 195; 1938, 135; 1939, 130; 1940, 116; 77 deaths
of infants occurred In Institutions, including Registered Nursing
Homes.
Among the 116 deaths, 70 occurred in boy babies and 46 girls.
Of the births, 1481 were males and 1468 females. The infantile
mortality rate for the two sexes was, therefore:-
Boys., 47; girls, 31
The rate of infant' mortality amongst illegitimate children.
was 57 per 1,000. The .rate; in legitimate children was 3.6 per 1000'.
