DISPOSAL OF CONDEMNED FOODSTUFFS.
(1) Government Slaughterhouse, Pitlake.
(2) Government Meat Depot.
Condemned foodstuff
is dealt with by the
Ministry of Food.
(3) General Food inspection. Articles of food which have been
damaged through enejuy air raids are dealt with through the
Salvage Officer, Ministry of Food. Any other condemned
foodstuffs which can be safely converted to any other
purpose are dealt with by firms specialising in this work.

Enquiries show that approximately 12,818 gallons of milk are
sold daily in the Borough. Of this amount 98y& is bottled,
just under 2,'to is loose, which is sold wholesale, and the
remaining small portion, namely 4^ gallons, is retailed as loose
milk. These figures are interesting in view of the fact that
fourteen years ago the whole of the milk sold was distributed
loose. The sale of this type of milk, whether in shops or on
rounds, is discouraged.
