RAG FLOCK: ACTS, 1911 and 1928,
Six samples were obtained and subjected to analysis, the results
being as follows:-
No. 1 contained 8 parts of Chlorine per 100,000

The six samples conformed to the standard of cleanliness prescribed
under the Rag Flock regulations, 1912, made under the Rag Flock Act,
1911. The legal maximum of chlorine allowed is 30 parts per 100,000.
SMOKE OBSERVATIONS.
During the year 61 observations were made of factory chimneys
for the purpose of detecting offences under the Act. Two notices were
sent and amendments carried out to stop the huisance.
AMUSEMENT HOUSES.
100 visits were made to theatres, music hells, cinemas and
premises where stage plays arc given. Attention was given to the
ventilation of the halls, sanitary conveniences, structure and cleanliness
of the dressing rooms. A report is submitted to the Licencing
Authorities annually. notices wore issued for the conditions and
defects found.
KEEPING OF ANIMALS.
85 inspections were made in connection with the keeping of animals.
There were 4-2 premises including institutions, where pigs were known to
be kept in the Borough.
4 notices were served to abate nuisances arising from various
causes in connection with the keeping of pigs and 6 notices were
served to abate nuisances in connection with the keeping of other
animals.
BYELAW - NUISANCES FROM DOGS.
In connection with the fouling of footpaths by dogs a number of
warnings have been given.
NOISY ANIMALS BYE-LAW.
Action was taken in 9 instances and the nuisance was abated.
SCHOOLS.
37 inspections of schools and school lavatories were made during
1940.
The water supply in all cases is from the mains.
INSPECTION OF WATERCOURSES, ETC.
During the year 13 visits were made to ditches, watercourse etc.,
in order to see whether there were any infringements of the several
Acts., etc.
