Babies Help Report.
I am indebted to Mrs. Philpott for the following particulars
:—
"In January, 193.7, the Committee was helping eight cases,
during the year twenty mothers and babies were helped and in
December nine names were on our books.
One baby was admitted to hospital with eczema but our other
babies are very well. Clothes, prams, cots and fire-guards have
been given and we always welcome gifts of any of those things.
The grants are paid at the centres and we thanks the health visitors
for their very willing co-operation in the work."
Croydon Rescue and Preventive Association.
This Association has a Home for Girls at 34, Morland Road.
As the Council now make a yearly financial grant of £100 towards
its conduction, it is periodically inspected by the Council's
officers.
The Home has changed its function and is now more of the
nature of a Remand Home. No babies are kept in residence as
was formerly the case.
The Creche, Whitehorse Road.
The Council give an annual grant of £300 towards the cost
of this Creche. A total of 6,460 attendances was recorded.
New and modern premises have been built in Whitehorse
Road and were opened early in 1937. Towards the cost of this
the Council made a grant of £875, and the annual grant was
increased to £300.
COOMBE CUFF CONVALESCENT HOME.
The following is a summary of the cases dealt with:—
Number of cases admitted during the year—121.
Total number of cases discharged—152.
Number of patient days—56.4 per patient (1937 cases).
The Home was closed for the admission of convalescent
children from the middle of November until the year ended,
During this time it was utilized for Scarlet Fever cases transferred
from the Borough Hospital, in order to meet the emergency
caused by the outbreak of Typhoid.
