The school dental surgeons spend a great part of their time
doing reparative work, and unless this is followed up by annual
inspection, so that further defects may be noted and corrected,
the time and money spent on treatment has to a large extent
been wasted. With the present staff this can only be prevented
by restricting the number of schools or age groups inspected and
treated each year, or by eliminating after the first inspection all
children whose parents refuse treatment.

With few exceptions, the age groups show a reduction in
percentage of sound dentitions compared with 1932. This Table
cannot be construed as showing a marked deterioration of the
teeth, but rather as proving that by infrequent inspections dental
disease cannot be reasonably controlled.
