MEAT INSPECTIONS.
Inspection of meat has been carried out as in previous years.
There are 14 registered slaughter houses in the Borough, in
addition to the Municipal slaughter houses at Pitlake, which consist of
12 slaughter houses with lairs.
Eight of these slaughter houses are let to private occupiers at
annual rentals, the other four are reserved for public use at fixed
charges per head of the various animals slaughtered.
During the year 26 notices have been served on the owners of
occupiers of private slaughter houses, relative to matters requiring
attention under the provisions of the Public Health Acts or the
Slaughter House Bye-Laws, chiefly minor repairs to buildings or yards
adjoining, all of which have been complied with at the end of the year
