(a) Bread contained piece of thick pink paper 1/3” x 2/3” bearing printing.
Vendors prosecuted.
(b) Double cream in dirty bottle containing non-viable mould spores.
Warning letter sent.
(c) Figs contained 2,300 mites in the pound. Stock withdrawn. Further
samples satisfactory.
(d) By comparison with data for genuine lemon juice appeared to consist
of 60% lemon juice to 40% water. Two further samples satisfactory.
(e) Cornish pasty contained grit and other mineral matter. Investigation
carried out at the bakehouse. No further action.
(f) Milk contained 0.1% soap. Bottlers warned.
(g) Milk deficient by 3.3% minimum amount of fat. Further sample
satisfactory.
(h) and (i) Full Cream Sweetened Milk thick and contained lumps. Of
low commercial quality. Referred to Ministry of Agriculture,
Fisheries and Food, who disposed of old stock.
(j) Evaporated Milk contained granulated deposits of calcium citrate—
a sign of age and low commercial quality. Ministry of Agriculture,
Fisheries and Food notified.
(k) Dried peas contained 4% peas attacked by maggots. No maggots in
sample. Stock withdrawn. Further sample satisfactory.
(l) Beef sausages, sulphite 250 p.p.m. not declared. Warning letter sent
to Company concerned. Further sample satisfactory.
