GENERAL PROVISION OF HEALTH SERVICES
FOR THE AREA.
NURSING HOMES.
Public Health Act, 1936, Sections 187/195.
There are six fully equipped Nursing Homes on the register at
the present time. These Homes provide a total of seventy-two
beds, four of which are for maternity cases and the remainder for
medical and surgical cases.
The Nursing Homes were inspected at frequent intervals during
1953. and there were no matters which called for action on the part
of the Local Authority.

The majority of the beds at the present time are occupied by
aged sick or aged infirm patients.
PUBLIC CONVENIENCES.
The Public Health Department was responsible during 1953
for cleansing public conveniences at the following:—
Public Lavatories (Male & female sections):-Westwood

Willersley Park, Sidcup.
St. Johns Road, Sidcup.
Queens Head P.H., Chislehurst.
Adj. Tigers Head P.H., Chislehurst.
Public Conveniences in Parks (Female sections only): —
Penhill Park, Blackfen.
The Glade.
King George's Field, Sidcup.
Waring Park, Sidcup.
Longland's Recreation Ground.
St. Paul's Cray Recreation Ground, St. Paul's Cray.
West Chislehurst Sports Ground.
Mottingham Recreation Ground.
LABORATORY SERVICE.
Routine medical and Food & Drugs samples are sent to the
Laboratory at Maidstone.
