Nursing Homes.

There are five fully equipped Nursing Homes in the district, as follow :—

The Nursing Homes were visited regularly throughout the
year. No serious infringements of the Byelaws were found, and
the service offered, in all cases, was up to the required standard.
Public Conveniences.
The Health Department was responsible for the cleansing of
13 Public Conveniences during the year, at St. Johns Road,
Sidcup, Sidcup Place Park, Queens Head, Willersley Park, Tigers
Head, Waring Park, West Chislehurst Sports Ground, The Glade,
Lamorbey Park. Longlands Recreation Ground, St. Paul's Cray
Recreation Ground, Mottingham Recreation Ground, King
George's Playing Fields, Penhill Park.
A further convenience is being constructed at Westwood
Lane, Blackfen, and will be in use early in 1953.
Public Mortuary.
There were 137 bodies received in the Public Mortuary during
the year. Inquests were held on 25 of these bodies.
National Assistance Act, 1948.
It has not been found necessary to deal with any person being
aged and infirm and living in insanitary conditions and unable
to devote to himself or receiving from other persons proper care
and attention. In no case during the year was it necessary to
grant financial assistance for the burial of bodies due to the
absence of other suitable arrangements for their disposal.
