The Population of the District, at the census of 1911, was
8,668, being an increase of 1,239 over the census of 1901. The
estimated population of the intercensal years have been somewhat
under-estimated. This cannot be avoided, the method adopted for
calculation being a recognised one, but can only be correct so far
as the population of a town continues to increase or decrease at the
same rate as it had been doing during the preceding decennial
periods. The estimated population for 1911 would be 8,440, or
228 lower than that of the census,
