BROMLEY RURAL DISTRICT COUNCIL.
GENTLEMEN,—
I have the honour to present to you my Annual Report for the
year 1904.
The number of visits made in the several parishes is as follows:—Chelsfield
60, Cudham 45, Downe 44, Farnborough 112,
Hayes 42, Keston 66, Knockholt 40, and West Wickham 118.
Complaints-—Fifty-four complaints were received and investigated
; of these 32 related to cesspools, and 22 to defective
drainage.
Water Supply.—Thirteen houses were found to be without
an available supply of wholesome water, and these (together with
thirty others) outstanding in my last report have been connected
with the Company's water main.
Infectious Disease.—Thirty-seven cases of infectious disease
were dealt with, viz., Scarlet Fever 16, Erysipelas 11, Diphtheria 8,
Enteric Fever 1, Puerperal Fever 1.
It was found necessary to disinfect 26 rooms; the fumigation
was carried out with formalin, the clothing, &c., being disinfected
with a solution of perchloride of mercury.
Upon investigating a fatal case of Diphtheria at Farnborough,
it was proved that the patient (a child) contracted the disease from
a cat.
