from the various services available in the Borough, an interpreter is employed by the Bexley
Council of Social Service, the local authority making a grant to the Council of Social Service
towards her salary. The interpreter's services are freely available to the various sections of the
Health & Welfare Department as required. A number of immigrants are employed in the department
as medical officers, health visitors, district nurses, midwives, social workers, etc. which is of
great help when dealing with their compatriots.
