ROUTINE MEDICAL INSPECTIONS
Routine medical inspections are carried out according to the regulations prescribed by the
Minister of Education and the Department of Education and Science and the following groups are
examined
(i) every pupil who is admitted to school for the first time;
(ii) first year pupils in Secondary Schools; and
(iii) school leaver age group.

Any child found to have a defect, or about whom the examining doctor is concerned for any
reason, is noted for a re-examination and is re-examined at the next inspection at school or by
earlier special appointment. The following re-examinations were carried out : —
