Processed Cheese	Contained an excessive amount of moisture.		Manufacturer's explanation accepted. Product withdrawn from sale.
Luncheon Meat	65 per cent		Control Orders, now defunct, demanded the meat contents of 80 and 90 per cent respectively in this food. No legal action was possible, but the matter was referred to the Ministry of Food Standards Committee.
Pork Luncheon Meat	63 per cent
Processed Gruyere Cheese	Contained an excessive amount of moisture.		No legal action taken because of dismissal of legal proceedings taken by another local authority in a similar case.
Tinned Rhubarb	Contaminated by tin.		Unfit for human consumption. Consignment surrendered and destroyed.
Shredded Wheat	Contaminated by foreign bodies of unknown origin.		Owing to the absence of definite information regarding the contamination no formal action was possible, but the packet of Shredded Wheat submitted was destroyed.
Sponge Mix	Only 3 per cent dried egg content.		Manufacturer's attention drawn thereto, but no formal action possible owing to the absence of legal standard.
Peanut Butter	Deficiency of vitamin A content by comparison on the declaration on the label.		Manufacturer's attention drawn thereto, and their explanation accepted.
Skimmed Milk Powder	Decomposed.		Consignment destroyed.
Pork Sausages	Deficient in meat content.		Legal proceedings instituted against Vendor, who was fined £20, with £18 18s. Od. costs.
Milk (Tuberculin Tested)	Deficient in butter-fat content.		No action. No evidence of wilful adulteration. Follow-up samples satisfactory.
Pork Sausages	Deficient in meat content.		Legal proceedings instituted against Vendor, who was fined £10 10s. 0d., with £12 12s. 0d. costs.
Ground Almonds (2 samples)	Adulterated with sugar.		Legal proceedings instituted against Vendor, who was fined £5 0s. 0d., with £2 2s. Od. costs.
