Cost of Hospital.
The following figures differ from those in previous
reports, in so far as the expenses are taken from January
ist to December 31st, and not from April 1st to March 31st, so as
to correspond with the period on which this report is based.
Thus the actual cost from January ist, 1913, to December
31st, 1913, was £1,622 12s. iod., being £40 less than the cost of
the previous year. The above figure includes some larg' items
for furnishing and the installation of gas to the various units of
the Hospital. The cost of food only was £383 6s. 4d., approximately
£100 less than the previous year, in spite of the fact that
the number of patients admitted was somewhat greater (153,
against 125).
The cost of food per day for patients and staff inclusive was
9½d., as against 11d. per day for the previous year. It must be
remembered that these figures are not strictly comparable.
