The total number of examinations made was 17,960, and in addition 567 special examinations were made of children already on the rolls of special schools in connection with applications for non-enforcement of attendance and for similar reasons. After trial in a special school, 70 children were excluded (51 as imbecile, 15 as
feeble-minded ineducable and 4 as feeble minded " detrimental") and 34 were
invalided on medical grounds.
