The deaths from measles in 1933 numbered 101 compared with 822 in 1932,
The death-rate was 0.02 per thousand. Measles again became epidemic towards the
end of 1933.

There were 329 deaths from whooping-cough in London during 1933 compared
with 348 in 1932. The death-rate was 0.08 per thousand.

There were 21,911 notifications of scarlet fever in 1933 (52 weeks), the corresponding
figure for 1932 being 14,119. The attack-rate was 5.1 per thousand as
against 3.3 in 1932. The deaths numbered 84, giving a death-rate of 0.02 per
thousand of the population at all ages and a case-mortality of 0.4 per cent.
The notifications during 1933 were in excess of those received in any year since
1921 when they numbered 32,708. As in previous scarlet fever epidemic years, the
excessive incidence is associated with marked deficiency in the rainfall.

The seasonal incidence, as shown by the notifications (uncorrected for errors of diagnosis) received in successive four-weekly periods during the year, was as follows :—
