Local sewers.
The figures quoted above do not include the cost of purchasing property required, of settling
claims for compensation payable by the Council of purchasing and fixing machinery, etc., or of
employing the necessary supervising staff, etc.
Section 69 of the Metropolis Management Act, 1855, provides that no new local sewer shall be
made without the previous approval of the Council.
The subjoined table shows the total length and sizes of the local sewers, the construction of which was sanctioned by the Council during the year.
