Infant- mortality.
The deaths of children under one year of age in the Administrative County of Londc
during 1899 (52 weeks) numbered 22,209, being in the proportion of 166 per 1,000 births.

London had therefore in the period 1889-98 a lower infant mortality than any of these
towns except Bristol and West Ham, and in 1899 a lower infant mortality than any except Bristol.
