Diphtheria—Seasonal variation in age distribution.
Examination of the figures supplied by diphtheria notifications for the years 1892-7 inclusive,
shows that the largest proportion of cases at ages 0-5 occur in the months of March and April, the
proportion gradually approaching a minimum in September; the proportion in the month of August,
however, as in the case of scarlet fever (see page 31) appears to be unduly high, a fact which is
due to the closure of the schools in that month.
