At the end of 1925 there were 178 families in receipt of milk through the Council's
scheme. 388 new families were added to the list of recipients during 1926, and at the end
of 1926 there were 251 families in receipt of milk. As will be seen from the table above,
there were supplied in 1926, 93,450 pints of milk free and 11,070 pints at half-price, at a cost
to the Council of £1,377 16s., half of which sum is repayable by the Ministry of Health. This
figure does not include the cost of administration. Inquiries are made by the Women Sanitary
Inspectors and Health Visitors, if there is any doubt as to the circumstances of the families.

The scale in use was based on weekly income, as follows:—

Families in receipt of less income than that indicated in the table would be entitled to
receive milk. The working of the scheme has been fully indicated in previous annual reports.
Public Health Officers of the Local Authority.
A complete list of these, including both whole and part-time officers is given on
pages 6 and 7.
Professional Nursing in the Home.
This is provided by the staff of the following District Nursing Associations :—
Central St. Pancras, Hampstead, Metropolitan, and North London.
The Borough includes the whole of the area of the Central St. Pancras District
Nursing Association and large portions of the areas of the other three Associations.
The Borough Council has an arrangement with all the above Associations for the Home
Nursing, at the request of the medical practitioner in attendance, of cases of Measles,
Whooping Cough, Ophthalmia Neonatorum, Infective Enteritis and Pneumonia. Since
October 1, 1926, an arrangement has also been made with the Central St. Pancras and Metropolitan
District Associations for the nursing of cases of Puerperal Fever and Puerperal
Pyrexia. A uniform fee of 1s. 6d. per visit is paid by the Borough Council.
