Somers Town Improvement Scheme No. 1, 1921.
In last year's report detailed reference was made to the Council's proposals in regard to
this subject. On the 25th October, 1921, a Public Local Enquiry was held before Mr. H. S.
Stewart, one of the Inspectors of the Ministry, in regard to the petition of the Council for the
issue of an order sanctioning the scheme under Part II of the Housing of the Working Classes
Act, 1890, for the improvement of the above-mentioned area. On the 10th April, 1922, a
letter was received from the Ministry suggesting a Conference with representatives of the Council
for a discussion of the matter. The interview took place on the 20th, when the Ministry requested
that revised figures of the cost of the proposed scheme should be supplied, which has since been
done. The matter is still under their consideration.
