DEATHS.
The net number of St. Pancras deaths registered during the year was 2,778, making an
annual death rate of 13.0 per thousand population.
The number of deaths registered during the year as having taken place in the borough was 2,836. Of
these, 651 were of persons whose residence was not in St. Pancras (non-parishioners), 582 dying in St. Pancras
institutions, and 69 in other parts of the borough. There were also reported by the Registrar-General 545
deaths of St. Pancras parishioners who died in institutions in other parts of the County of London and institutions
connected therewith, and 48 who died in other parts of England and Wales. The net figure on which
the death-rate is based is corrected for these outward and inward transfers.
In Table 1, on page 86, will be found the corresponding figures for the past 11 years. It
will be seen that the tendency for the amount of mortality to diminish has continued, and that
the number of deaths in 1921 was smaller than in any previous year.
The leading causes of death are set out in the following table for the 10 years 1911-1920 and for 1921.
