Maternity ami Infant Welfare Centret.—Two new voluntary centres were
started in St. Pancras during 1915. One of these, the Camden Town Mothers'
and Infants' Welfare Centre, Greenland Street, N.W., was opened in April.
It is held in the St. Michael's Mission Buildings one afternoon per week, and
the health visiting work in connection with it is done by the staff of the
Public Health Department. The other new consultation, the Mothers' and
Infants' Welfare Centre, 40, Argyle Square, was opened in May. It is held
in a house of its own beautifully converted for the purpose, and during 1914
one consultation per week for infants and one for expectant mothers were held.
In addition the Maternity Nursing Association, 73, Oakley Square, N.W.,
started in March a fortnightly consultation for expectant and nursing mothers
who are to be or have been attended by the Association in their confinement.
The Four Boroughs Maternity Scheme have supplied the Medical Officer
for weekly pre-natal consultations at the Passmore Edwards Settlement School
for Mothers and the Argyle Square Centre.
The Highgate Road Maternity Centre, which was started in 1914 at 5,
Grove Terrace, Highgate Road, N.W., was discontinued early in 1915, owing
to the lack of funds, This is much to be regretted.
