Mortality of Soldiers and Sailors.
The number of deaths of Soldiers and Sailors that were registered during
the year in the Borough was 32. Of these, 19 were resident without the
Borough. Fourteen such deaths of St. Pancras residents were also reported
by the Registrar-General as having taken place in other parts of the country.
The total for St. Pancras was therefore 27.
Of the 27 deaths, 5 were from wounds received in battle, 4 from other
accidental causes, 18 from disease.
These deaths, as previously stated on page 13, are not included with the
deaths of the civil population occurring during 1915.
Infantile Mortality.
497 deaths of St. Pancras infants under one year of age took place during
the year. This is equal to a rate of infantile mortality of 105 per 1,000 births.
The number of such deaths in 1914 was 481, and therefore the decrease in
births has been accompanied by an increase in deaths of infants.
