In the following table will be found the deaths and death-rate from whooping cough for the past ten years for the whole Borough and for the four registration sub-districts:—

Of the 49 deaths, 23 were of children under one year of age and 49 of
children under five years of age.
42 of the deaths took place during the first six months of the year, the
disease being less prevalent in the latter half (see table inset at page 27).

Much of what is stated in the preceding section in reference to measles
applies also to whooping cough.
DIARRIICEA AND ENTERITIS.
142 deaths from diarrhoea and enteritis were registered during 1914, equal
to a death.rate of 0.60 per 1,000 population.
Of these 127 were in children under five years of age and 106 in babies
under one.
