Smoke-Prevention.
A register of smoke shafts is kept in the department. At the end of 1914
there were 343 shafts on the register.
During the year 332 observations were made and 7 re-inspections after the
service of notices. There were no prosecutions.
Regulated Trades.
Offensive Trades.—There are two licensed premises for such trades in St.
Pancras, viz., a tripe-dresser's in Kentish Town Road, and a tallow-melter's
in Tudor Place.
Other Businesses giving rise to Effluvia.—Fried fish shops and fish-smoking
places have been dealt with elsewhere (pages 106 and 107).
A list is also kept of rag and bone stores, and at the end of 1914 there were
38 premises in this list. 17 visits were paid to rag and bone stores during
the vear.
Constructural Drain Work.
The construction of, and repairs to, house drains are supervised by the
sanitary inspectors.
