Analysis of eases born in Ward VI., January-March, 1908 (taken from
Registrars' Birth returns, and therefore excluding still.births):—
(a) In private houses.

18 Died within the 12 months. For age at death and history as to
breast feeding see Table III.
46 Removed before the final visit at 12 months, therefore the history as
to breast feeding could only be given as far as was ascertained at
the primary visit, or at the last visit before removal (see Table II.).
74 Lived during the whole 12 months in Ward VI., and were visited at
the end of 12 months (in addition to the primary and intermediate
visits) and so a complete history as to breast feeding, &c., could be
given. (See Table I.)

(b) In St. Pancras Workhouse.
During the period, January-March, 1908, there were 29 births, of
which 11 were legitimate, and 18 illegitimate Upon inquiry at
the Workhouse I found that in only one instance had the mother
given a Ward VI. address as the one to which she was going —
and she had removed from there when visited.
