§ 1. INSPECTIONS.

The following were the total number of inspections and re-inspections made by Sanitary Inspectors duriug the year, as extracted from the detailed table at the end of this report:—

Mr. Winton resigned in February, and Mr. Child was appointed in his
stead in March.
Mr. Warwick resigned in March, and in April Mr. Osborne was transferred
lo the post of Inspector of Food and Food Places in the South and West
Divisions of the Borough ; and Mr. Johnston, who was appointed in April in
the place of Mr. Warwick, was allotted the duties of District Inspector in the
district vacated by Mr. Osborne.
In July two temporary Inspectors were appointed for a period of three
months for the purpose of making house-to-house inquiries in tenementhouse
streets as to the number and size of dwellings in tenemented houses,
for the purpose of measuring and enfering up registered tenement houses, and
for the purpose of inspecting them when registered.
On the 19th December, 1900, upon the recommendation of the Public
llealth Committee, the Borough Council resolved to appoint two additional
male Sanitary Inspectors, to carry out the work of inspection, etc., of
registered tenement houses, and such other duties as may be required.
