DEATHS.
During the year 1898, the corrected total number of deaths from all causes at
all ages was 4658, being 122 more than during the preceding year, and 124 below
the annual average of the preceding ten years. Per 1000 of the population the
death-rate was 19.1, compared with 18.7 in the previous year, and an annual
average of 20.1 in the preceding decennium.
