Small-pox 1 1 100
Diphtheria 298 61 20.5
Scarlatina 621 426 68.6
Typhoid 217 92 42.4
Total (of three last) 1.36 579 51.0
From these tables it will be seen that, excluding small-pox, for which special
provision is made, of the other three diseases the proportion of total removals to
cases notified during 1892 has been an advance of only 10 per cent. upon 1891, and
in the matter of scarlatina there has even been a failure to reach the proportion of
the previous year by 5 per cent, or in other words the supply of hospital accommodation
ib not keeping pace with the increasing demand.
During the year the bodies of 15 persons dying of infectious diseases were
removed from dwelling-houses to the Infectious Mortuary.
