The number of persons per house is increasing, the following figures show this tendency:—

Census.Number of Inhabited Houses.Increase.Persons per House.
186121,729....9.1
187124,10321749.2
188124,701598*9.5
1891..........9.7

Estimating the increase of inhabited houses at about 104 per annum as above,
and the number of persons per house at 9.7 we obtain an increase of population per
annum of 1008.
We have therefore three estimates of the Annual increase of population
By Census Returns 940
Natural Increase 337
Number of houses 1008
the mean of which is 1095.

This gives a population of 242,007 for 1886, therefore the population of the Parish is estimated at 242,000, and the population of the sub-districts as under:— ESTIMATED.
