• For statistical purposes the Registrar-General estimates the
population to the middle of the year on the basis of the rate of
increase ruling between the two preceding Census periods. The
estimate of population may be checked by the known number of
inhabited houses, and by the average number of inmates per house,
as ascertained at the preceding Census.
** The deaths of non-parishioners in public institution within the
parish should be deducted, but a proportion of the deaths occurring in
General Hospitals, relative to the population of the parish or district,
should be added to the total number of deaths in this column.
