TUBERCULOSIS
Notifications
The total number of new cases which came to the notice of the
Department during 1958 was 589 compared with 549 in 1957.
The sources of information regarding the new cases were as follows:

Five hundred and eighty-eight cases were added to the notification
register during the year and 228 cases who had removed, recovered or
died, were taken off. The number remaining on the register at the end
of the year was 5,783.
Deaths
The number of deaths certified as due to various forms of tuberculosis
was 48.
