Water Supply
The bulk of the water supply in the Borough is provided by the
Metropolitan Water Board and this has been satisfactory both in
quality and quantity.
Registration of Premises
The Food and Drugs Act, 1938-1954
Section 14 (1) of the above Act provides that no premises shall be
used for:
(a) the sale, or manufacture for the purpose of sale of ice-cream,
or the storage of ice-cream intended for sale; or
(b) the preparation or manufacture of sausages or potted, pressed,
pickled or preserved food intended for sale, unless they are
registered under this section for that purpose with a local
authority.
During the year 33 applications for registration under the
provisions of Section 14(l)(a) and 11 applications for registration
under the provisions of Section 14(l)(b) were submitted to the
Council. In all cases the premises were found to be satisfactory
and the registration granted.
Public Health (London) Act, Sec. 144
During the year no applications were received for licences under
the provisions of Sec. 144, to use premises as slaughterhouses.
Bacteriological Examination of Food

Five hundred and seventy-six samples of food were examined bacteriologically at the Public Health Laboratory during the year. They were as follows:
