The percentage of children vaccinated to the total births was
52.0— in Clapham, 52.8; in Putney, 56.6; in Balham, 47.2;
in Streatham, 56.1; in Tooting, 31.1; in Southfield, 58.4; and
in Springfield, 65.9. This percentage is 2.2 lower than that
recorded last year.
Diphtheria.
386 cases occurred, compared with 365 in 1936 ; 388 in 1935 ;
and 552 in 1934. The number of deaths was 20, compared with
23 in 1936, 14 in 1935, and 21 in 1934. The death-rate for 1937
was .05 and the case mortality was 5.1 per cent.
The rate per 1,000 of population was 1.12; 1.52 in
Clapham; .92 in Putney; .72 in Balham; .48 in Streatham :
2.24 in Tooting; and 1.19 in Wandsworth.
