Of the various articles set out in the preceding tables, both
samples of Beer, two of Tea, one sample of Jam and one Bun
were submitted by the Inspector owing to complaints having
reached him to the effect that these commodities had been suspected
of causing illness to their consumers.
On each of these samples an exhaustive analysis was made,
but in no case could we discover the presence of any poisonous
or deleterious ingredient, so that it is evident that an explanation
as to the cause of the symptoms complained of had to be sought
elsewhere.
