Report of the Medical Officer of Health.
Meat.
There are no public abattoirs in the Borough, and the Sanitary
Inspectors periodically inspect the slaughterhouses and arrange as
far as possible to be there on the days that slaughtering of animals
takes place.
There are now nine slaughterhouses used in the Borough, and
166 inspections of these premises were made during the year.
3,237 carcases were examined by the Inspectors, most of these
being seen on butchers' premises. It was not found necessary to
condemn any carcase during the year.
The following Table is a copy of a return made to the London
County Council and shows the number of certain food premises in
the Borough, together with the number of slaughterhouses, offensive
trade premises, and houses-let-in-lodgings.
