Infant Visiting.
There were 5,475 births during the year and 4,227 of these
or 77.1 per cent. were visited, compared with 81.1 in 1922, and 77.2
in 1921.
Table XXVI. gives the particulars of the method of feeding
of infants on the occasion of the initial visit and when revisited.
Of 4,227 infants visited for the first time 3,493 were entirely breastfed,
while 273 were fed partly on the breast and partly by other
methods, and 461 were entirely bottle-fed.
On revisiting 2,079 infants were found to be fed entirely on
the breast, 811 were partially breast-fed, and 1,631 were otherwise
fed.

135 of the infants visited were born prematurely, 58 infants
were delicate from birth, and five were definitely unhealthy. 120
twin births and two of triplets were visited.
