The Mortuaries in Clapham, Streatham, and Wandsworth have
been visited several times during the year, and I am able to report
that the Bye-laws and Regulations have been carried out in a
satisfactory manner.
In Clapham, four bodies were removed to the Mortuary, in Streatham
16, and in Wandsworth 168—of which 57 were from Wandsworth,
31 from Putney, 36 from Tooting, 43 from Battersea, and
one from Wimbledon—a total of 188.
Tuberculous Diseases.
The total number of deaths from diseases of a tuberculous
nature was 343, 181 of males and 162 of females.
286 of the deaths were due to pulmonary tuberculosis, 148 of
males, and 138 of females ; 31 to tuberculous disease of the brain ;
and 26 to other forms of tuberculous diseases.
The number of deaths from pulmonary tuberculosis and other
tuberculous diseases, and the rates per 1,000 for the whole Borough
and for the separate sub-districts, are shown in the next Table.
