22. The arrangements for the entertainment of the children
attending the East Wandsworth and West Wandsworth Special
Schools were undertaken, on behalf of the Committee, by the.
respective Bodies of Managers of those Schools.
23. The entertainments took the form of a tea, games, music,
etc., in schools and open spaces.
24. Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Connaught
attended the entertainment given to the children of the Fairfield
and Southfield Wards in the grounds of the Royal Hospital for
Incurables and the Leg of Mutton Field, Southfield, on Monday,
the 26th June, and were received by the Mayor and Mayoress and
the Town Clerk, Sir Henry Kimber, Bart., M.P., the Bishop of
Southwark, Aldermen and Councillors of the Borough, and members
of the Hospital Board of Management. Their Royal Highnesses
were very much interested in the entertainments and the singing
of the children, and their visit was highly appreciated by the
•children. Most of the other entertainments were visited by the
Mayor and Mayoress and the Town Clerk.
25. The Mayor presented a Coronation Medal in a case to each
Ward Committee for a prize for a race for boys, and sent handsome
invitation cards to the children and helpers in the Clapham North
Ward. The Mayor also gave a Coronation Medal to the top boy
and a Coronation Brooch to the top girl in each class of the Public
Elementary Schools, and Sir Henry Kimber gave Coronation Medals
to infants. Many other prizes and gifts were kindly presented by
ladies and gentlemen and associations who took an interest in the
celebrations in the different Wards.
26. The respective Ward Committees made efficient arrangements
for the entertainments, and they were carried out in a very
satisfactory manner. The thanks of the Council were accorded to
the Members of the Committees and other ladies and gentlemen, and
especially to the teachers, for the great time given and trouble taken
to make the entertainments a thorough success.

children entertained and the date and place of the entertainments,
