Report of the Medical Officer of Health.
Of these 159 births 104 were illegitimate, nine belonging to
Clapham, six to Putney, 13 to Streatham, eight to Tooting, 22 to
Wandsworth, 37 to Battersea, and nine to other places.
In the Borough, excluding the Workhouse, 111 illegitimate
births occurred, 24 in Clapham, nine in Putney, 23 in Streatham,
23 in Tooting, and 32 in Wandsworth.
Of the births registered outside the Borough, 11, four males
and seven females, were illegitimate. One of these belonged to
Clapham, one to Putney, three to Streatham, one to Tooting, and
five to Wandsworth.
The total number of illegitimate births was 180, 34 of which
belonged to Clapham, 16 to Putney, 39 to Streatham, 32 to Tooting,
and 59 to Wandsworth, compared with 185 in 1910, 175 in 1909,
and 177 in 1908.
The percentage of illegitimate births to total births was 2'68,
compared with 2.65 in 1910. 2.50 in 1909, 2.41 in 1908, and 3.4
for the whole of London for 1910.

Notification of Births Act.
During the year 4,607 births were notified, 836 from Clapham,
335 from Putney, 1,068 from Streatham, 590 from Tooting, and
1,778 from Wandsworth.
