In [all 725 inspections were made of 360 factories, and 61
notices, 59 imitation and two statutory, were served.
The total number of workshops on the Register was 1,707,
153 of which were workshop laundries, 136 workshop bakehouses,
and 1,418 other workshops.
In all 3,346 inspections of these were made, compared with
.3,366 in 1909, 3,130 in 1908, 3,148 in 1907, 3,233 in 1906, and
2,628 in 1905, and 252 intimation and 22 statutory notices were
served.
The total number of workplaces on the Register was 1,039,
and 1,828 inspections were made, while 197 intimation and 10
statutory notices were served.
The total number of defects found was 720, including 11
cases in which there was a breach of special sanitary requirements
for bakehouses, compared with 745 and six in 1909.
To abate these nuisances 544 intimation and 36 statutory
notices were served, all of which, with the exception of 16, were
complied with at the end of the year. The 16 outstanding were
complied with in the first month of this year.
In all, 720 defects were found and 704 remedied, but only 544
intimation notices were served, as one notice frequently called
attention to several defects on the same premises.
