Deaths and Causes of Death in Public Institutions.
In the Public Institutions in the Borough 723 deaths occurred
during the year, compared with 837 in 1909, 818 in 1908, 807 in
1907, 771 in 1906, 729 in 1905, and 669 in 1904. Of these, 564
deaths were of persons not belonging to the Borough, compared
with 656 in 1909, and 159 of persons belonging to the Borough,,
compared with 181 in 1909.
The decrease was largely due to the decrease in the number
of deaths of persons not belonging to the Borough.
In Clapham 59 deaths occurred in the Hostel of God, nine of
these being Borough residents. Of these, 35 were due to Cancer,.
19 to Tubercular disease of the Lungs, one from Old Age, one
from other Tubercular disease, one from Nephritis, and two from,
other causes.
In Putney two deaths occurred in the Priory, Roehampton,.
both from diseases of the Nervous System.
In Streatham there were seven deaths in St. Anne's Home
and five in the Middlesex County Asylum Annexe. Of the seven
in St. Anne's Home one was from Cancer, three were from
diseases of the Respiratory Organs, one from Old Age, and two.
from other causes. Of the five in the Middlesex County Asylum
Annexe one was from Tubercular disease of the Lungs, one from.
Pericarditis, one from Pneumonia, and two from Epilepsy.
In Tooting 412 deaths occurred in Public Institutions, 261 in
Tooting Bee Asylum, 54 in the Fever Hospitals, 94 in Tooting
Home, and three in Newlands House Asylum.
84 of these—49 in the Tooting Home, 24 in the Fever Hospitals,
and 11 in Tooting Bee Asylum—were of persons belonging
to this Borough.
